A woman attacked by her ex-partner has spoken out about her disappointment at the sentence he received.
Darren Lindsay, 35, from Summerseat, received a 12-month suspended jail term after being convicted of causing GBH to his partner and damaging property.
But his victim believes his Preston Crown Court sentence was too lenient after he battered her in front of their two-year-old son.
She said: ““It was horrific what happened to me. My family were gobsmacked that he’s just walked away from this.”
The victim believes the justice system has failed her and other victims of domestic violence.
Lindsay, of The Spinnings, Waterside Road, Summerseat, who works in Kearsley, must also pay £5,000 in compensation and complete 120 hours of community service and 30 rehab days.
The victim feels a more serious charge, alleging intent on the part of Lindsay, should have been pursued by prosecutors. She also wanted to address the court about her ordeal.
She added: “I was also disappointed I didn’t get the chance to go before the judge and explain what he’d done to me.”
