JURORS will return next week to consider their verdict in the case of a man accused of causing the death of a Radcliffe FC photographer by driving carelessly.
Peter Lee was travelling back from a game against Ashton Athletic midweek with friends and his two daughters when their silver Toyota was struck by a white transit van.
Mohammed Abushiba, 50, the van driver, of Cardinal Street, Cheetham Hill, has been on trial at Manchester Crown Court.
He denies the offence and claims the occupants of another vehicle swore at him then moved towards him causing him to have to move and be unable to avoid a collision with Mr Lee's car.
Stephen Rollason, the driver of the vehicle, told the jury he remember seeing headlights and saying “bloody hell we are going to be hit” before the crash took place.
Mr Lee, who joined the club two years earlier, was pronounced dead at the scene just over an hour after the 10pm crash
Trial judge Timothy Smith adjourned the case until Monday.
