A TV presenter has urged people to sign up for a Bury Hospice fundraiser in memory of the late Ramsbottom newsreader Tony Morris.
Hospice bosses say they have been inundated with well-wishers and donations since the death of the 57-year-old, who had been suffering from kidney cancer and was cared for there.
And now Lucy Meacock, his co-presenter on Granada Tonight, says she is signing up for the hospice's '24 hours in 24 days' challenge through the month of August.
She said on Twitter: "Anyone else joining me to sign up for this in memory of my lovely friend?
"Let's help the people who helped him. Thank you @BuryHospice. I can never thank you enough."
The challenge is aimed at encouraging people to take part in just one hour's exercise per day, over 24 days during August.
People can run, jog, swim, cycle or even play golf for 60 minutes consecutively and look to raise £50 or more for the hospice.
In another message on Twitter last night, hospice chiefs said: "Thank you for the lovely messages we are receiving & kind donations in memory of Tony Morris.
"Our thoughts & love are with his family at this very difficult time.
"We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. We could not do what we do without you."
