A road over a bridge was closed in both directions for nearly four hours due to a police incident.
Blackford Bridge, on Manchester Road, Bury was closed with emergency services on the scene due to the concern for welfare of a man in the area.
The road was closed around 5:10am this morning with emergency services called to the scene, although the incident has now been cleared.
A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 5.10am on Saturday August 1, police were called to reports of a concern for the welfare of a man on Manchester Road, Bury.
"Emergency services are in attendance.
"Road closures are in place."
Transport for Greater Manchester also confirmed the incident.
A post on their Twitter page read: "A56 Manchester Road, Blackford Bridge is closed in both directions over the bridge due to a police incident."
However it was confirmed around 8:40am that the road has now reopened to traffic.
