VETERAN Lancashire Fusiliers honoured their fallen comrades when they held a special remembrance day parade on Sunday.
The existing Lutyens Memorial outside the former Wellington Barracks recruitment depot in Bolton Road will be removed, cleaned and repaired before being resited in Sparrow Park in Silver Street as part of the multi-million pound Fusilier Museum project. The existing military museum at Wellington Barracks will also be transferred to the new town centre facility.
Sunday's parade saw around 100 Lancashire Fusiliers from across the world join together as they laid wreaths at the foot of the memorial for the very last time in its present location.
A new Bury Lancashire Fusilier standard, donated and in the memory of Vivienne Eastwood, who died earlier this year from cancer and is the wife of Captain Joe Eastwood, BEM, a prominent member of the Bury branch of the Lancashire Fusilier Association, was also dedicated during the afternoon remembrance parade.
