A SCHOOL for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties has been hailed ‘outstanding’ by government inspectors.
Rossendale School, in Bamford Road, Ramsbottom, received the top rating in three criteria when inspectors visited the school from November 6-8.
Ofsted reported that pupils at the school, which caters for children with a range of behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, 'flourish and make excellent progress'.
They added: "Pupils thrive and enjoy the opportunities and experiences available to them through being residential pupils. No matter what their needs or abilities, they are nurtured to reach their full potential."
The report also praised the school's residential offering, with its leadership being hailed as 'exceptional'.
One parent at the school told inspectors: "It has changed our son’s life, and ours as a family. Our son has made incredible progress since joining the school."
The independent school, which is run by Priory Education Services, was opened in 1989 and offers day and residential services for young people with difficulties such as autism.
