BURY Hospice is once again offering to collect unwanted Christmas trees and dispose of them.

The service, which is now in its third year, will take place from Friday, January 11 to Sunday, January 13 across the borough.

In return for disposing the trees, the hospice is asking people to make a donation.

Last year, the hospice raised more than £4,000 from its recycling service, and they are hoping to collect even more this year.

Companies who have volunteered to help are Bespoke Landscapes Ltd, Ashley Edge Gardening Services, Parcelfast, Lostock Installations, and Senior Waste Removals.

Events fundraiser Dale Mulgrew said: "Getting rid of your Christmas tree is probably the last thing on your mind as we approach the busy festive season. But once in the New Year, many will start to consider how they are going to get rid of their Christmas Tree as they start to plan for the beginning of 2019.

"This is an easy way of solving the problem as Bury Hospice can come and collect your tree from outside of your front door, so you barely need to move an inch to get rid of your tree! At the same time you will be raising much needed money in support of the excellent end of life care Bury Hospice provides."
