FINAL details of a new residential and industrial development in Prestwich have been revealed.
The latest plans, submitted by Bellway Homes, are for 124 homes at the Mountheath Industrial Estate in George Street.
An outline application for up to 160 homes and nearly 3,000 square metres of modern employment space was approved in February 2017.
Now, Bellway Homes have set out details of the appearance, scale and layout of the residential site.
The applicant promises to build a "high quality sustainable residential neighbourhood", providing a range of homes and enhancing existing landscape features. The plans also include improvements to the George Street and Bury New Road junction to address traffic concerns.
Cllr Alan Quinn welcomed the proposal but wants to talk to the developer about the sustainability of the site.
He said: “I welcome new homes, especially on brownfield sites. But I want to discuss sustainable drainage and I want to talk to them about fitting nesting bricks.”
The cabinet member for the environment wants to see greener housing in Greater Manchester that use solar panels and energy-efficient glass.
The Sedley councillor also wants assurances that the new homes will be affordable.
He said: “We need affordable housing spread around the development, not just crammed up in one corner.”
