SUMMER seems to be a season of Annual General Meetings in the chess world, and last week it was the turn of the Manchester Chess Federation to hold theirs.
The Bury club were represented by three members at the meeting, and two Bury members were re-elected to MCF posts; Mick Norris continuing as the Greater Manchester County under 175 grade Team Captain, and Bernard Sharples as a member of the League Disputes Committee and as MCF Auditor.
At the Club, the Summer Championship is well on its way, and members are asked to complete outstanding games as soon as possible. The Tournament Controller, Brian Forrest, points out that games unplayed by the deadline date will be defaulted to both players!
Visitors and prospective members will be welcome to attend club nights at the Bury Sports Club, on Monday or Tuesday evenings from 7.30 pm.
