RAMSBOTTOM seconds completed a hat-trick of Lancashire Evening Telegraph Junior Cup wins and their fifth in six years when they defeated Todmorden at Centre Vale on Saturday.

Batting first, Todmorden started well after they lost two early wickets. Adam Highley and Andrew Sutcliffe shared a 79-run partnership to boost their total.

With 16-year-old Jack Walmsley bowling out of his skin, he and Andy Dalby ran through the remaining batsmen as eight wickets fell for 26 runs.

Walmsley ended with a career-best 5-12, while Dalby provided ideal support with 4-30.

Ramsbottom were seemingly comfortably heading towards their target when they reached 43 for the first wicket. But the Todmorden bowlers had other ideas as they stuck to their tasks well. Highley, with three wickets, and some tight support gave the visitors some nervy moments, but a steady 34 not out from Chris Wood led them to victory with 10 overs to spare.

To cap a fine weekend, the seconds then trounced Church to consolidate their lead at the top of the table.
