SCHOOLCHILDREN were able to raise their voices at a public speaking event in Ramsbottom.
Year Six children from Edenfield and Holcombe Brook primary schools appeared at the Ramsbottom Youth Speaks Festival at Woodhey High School.
Youngsters from Edenfield discussed the arguments for and against Prince Harry serving in Iraq in a speech entitled To go or not to go, that is the question. Holcombe Brook pupils talked about moving to Spain, based on speaker Megan Welby's experiences living on the Iberian peninsula.
The event was organised by Ramsbottom Rotary Club. Rotarians Peter Clare and Stephen Barcroft were master of ceremonies and timekeeper respectively. Karen Kennedy and Stuart Birtwell adjudicated.
