A TOTTINGTON-based animal charity has launched a desperate appeal to find loving new homes for stray and abandoned cats and kittens.

Pets in Need say they are in the middle of a cats crisis with more and more of these animals being taken in by the charity.

Dinah Hill, a committee member, said: "We are being swamped at the moment. We have lots of kittens and cats needing homes. Sadly, some irresponsible and callous owners are to blame. When their pregnant cats give birth, the kittens are kept only for a week or two before being abandoned. We have so many waifs and strays at the moment. We are now anxiously seeking good homes for young cats and kittens. They are all vet checked and vaccinated."

Anyone who can assist can ring Dinah on 01204 885249.

l-Pets In Need is holding its annual garden party on Sunday, August 12 at its base at Reynards Bank, Turton Road, Tottington, from 10am onwards. There will be an all day barbecue and a dog show with entries from 11am. Other charities will also be present. Organisers want as many visitors as possible.
