SCHOOL leavers got scrubbing so they could fund a prom party and help the fire service.
Year Six children from Stubbins Primary School washed cars at Ramsbottom fire station to raise the funds needed to throw themselves a leaving party during their last week at school.
Despite heavy rain bringing their enterprise to an early end, they managed to clean 50 cars, a fire engine and a truck.
They raised about £100, which they split with the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund.
Though they were already soaked through from the rain and the soap suds, pupils still found the enthusiasm for a water fight with the firemen to celebrate a job well done.
PTA chairwoman Kirsty Riley said: "They got absolutely soaked but enjoyed themselves immensely - and I think the firefighters enjoyed themselves even more.
"It was a nice that the pupils were able to raise money themselves so they could have a party to mark leaving primary school."
