VOICES have been raised against plans for a new residential care home in Tottington.
Residents of Kirklees Street are unhappy about plans to build an eight-bed home for adults with learning difficulties in the cul-de-sac.
They oppose allowing the site to be used for business purposes and fear that coupled with a new housing development at Dunster's Farm, also in Kirklees Street, the home will cause traffic and parking problems.
The issue was raised with councillors at a meeting of Ramsbottom, Tottington and North Manor Local Area Partnership at Tottington Methodist Church last week.
Claire O'Rourke said: "This is a residential cul-de-sac. A large business like this would be totally out of keeping with the area.
"It's going to be a monster. There's just no space for it."
Councillors on Tuesday's planning committee agreed to delay making a decision to carry out a site visit on August 21.
Residents intend to raise their objections when the planning application, submitted by care home company Milbury Voyage, goes back before the committee later that day.
