THE heartbroken mother of Steven Dyson has paid tribute to her ‘beautiful son’.
Brent Pinder administrator of the In Memory of Steven Dyson Facebook Page released the tribute on behalf of Lorraine Roach.
In the statement Mrs Roach said: “As you all know my beautiful son Steven has passed away hopefully to a better place, my heart is broken and no mummy should have to go through what I have been through this past week.
No words can described how much the love and support from the Ramsbottom community and beyond has helped me through this traumatic time.
“I felt like crumbling but just seeing hundreds of people queuing to help find my Steven has given me the strength to carry on.
“The ‘In Memory of Steven Dyson’ group have my eternal gratitude. You have no idea what you have done for me, my family and my lovely angel – Steven.
“I know he his smiling down at us now and is proud of each and everyone of you as I am.
“Mummy loves you Steven, I miss you, I love you and am broken.”
Steven, aged 22, was last seen at 9am on New Year’s Day leaving a party in Ramsbottom.
On Sunday in Steven's memory a lantern walk will take place from the Ramsbottom branch of The Royal British Legion to Nuttall Park, where biodegradable balloons will be released.
Mr Pinder, who said he is in constant touch with Mrs Roach said: "We want everybody involved in the search, who have donated, or shared messages to come and celebrate the life and legacy of Steven Dyson.
"The walk will start at the Royal British Legion at 3pm."
Today James Frith, MP for Bury North, said in the House of Commons: "The 22-year-old Steven Dyson's body was found in the River Irwell in Ramsbottom on Saturday morning, six days after he went missing on New Year's Day.
"Mr Speaker it is at the worst of times we often see the best of people. Will the Home Secretary join me in thanking GMP, our fire service and hundreds of local volunteers who spent last week looking for Steven, as well as the Ramsbottom British Legion that hosted the campaign centre and all the local businesses that donated items to our cause.
"The outpouring of support was incredible and I hope goes someway to giving strength to Steven's dear mum and everyone mourning."
A fundraising page to support his family has also been set up with money donated going towards the funeral expenses.
The In Memory Of Steven Dyson - Funeral Fund Facebook Page. page was set up this morning and by 8.30pm more than £3,000 had been raised towards the £6,000 target.
