MR Walter Brooks (Bury Times, July 19) forgot to mention two other points for which he should thank the Labour government.
First, the regular above inflation pay increases for NHS staff in most of the last ten years, which has made Britain's health workers among the best paid in Europe.
Second, the recruitment of 79,000 additional nursing jobs in the NHS since 1977 of which, of course, Mr Brooks' job may well be one.
Right, Wally?
