RADCLIFFE Cricket Club's second team face the prospect of a replayed Burton Cup semi-final after they tied their clash with Littleborough over the weekend.

Littleborough racked up 192-9 on Sunday, before the rains came and took the game into Monday. Radcliffe's reply saw them needing two to win from the last ball of the game. They scampered the first, but could not complete the second and also finished on 192-9. There will now be a replay at Littleborough on August 5. Walsden are awaiting the winners in the final.

"It was a good game," said club chairman Chris Franklin. "A good spell of bowling from Matty Wright (3-17) pulled us back into it when they looked like scoring another 40 runs more than they actually did.

"The top order failed, but Liam Franklin (44) and Matty Wright (51) batted well and then the tail swung the bat to get us down to the last ball position.

"We actually thought that we had lost the game at the end because some tied cup games are decided on run-rate over the first 20 overs, but the umpires confirmed there would be a replay and the lads are confident of winning that one."

The first team were washed out at the weekend, and will be hoping to get back in action tomorrow when they visit Werneth. On Sunday, Damion Keegan's side welcome high-flying neighbours Unsworth to the Triple8 Racecourse (1.45pm).

l The club are running a summer school for children aged between 8 and 15 in the week beginning August 6.

The club's professional, Usman Tariq, who has scored 800 runs this season, will be taking the five-day course that runs between 10am and 3pm.
