A BURY man was deliberately mowed down by a car after he was attacked in the street.

The 20-year old victim has since undergone major surgery to have metal plates inserted in his shattered left leg.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the incident which happened at 9pm on Tuesday, July 10.

The victim was walking along Tennyson Avenue when he was attacked by a man with a metal bar. Both men fought before the offender got into the driver's seat of a silver Ford Focus.

The victim ran over to the passenger side of the car and smashed the front side window with the offender's metal bar.

The offender then drove off onto Manchester Road but turned around and drove at speed towards the victim. The car hit the victim before driving away.

The male was taken to hospital with multiple fractures to his left leg and has had to have metal plates inserted.

The offender is described as white, in his late 20's or early 30's, 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build with short light coloured hair and a big nose.

There was also a woman in the car. She is described as white with long, ginger-coloured hair and wearing a blue tracksuit top.

Anyone who has seen a silver Ford Focus with a smashed window and possibly damage to the front, or has any information about the assault, is asked to contact police on 0161 856 8248 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
