POLICE have reported a significant drop in the number of burglaries in Ramsbottom, Tottington and North Manor.
Inspector Bryn Williams told a meeting of the new local area partnership that domestic burglaries were down by more than 50 per cent on last year.
In the three months April, May and June this year there were five reported break-ins at homes in North Manor, nine in Ramsbottom and five in Tottington. That compares with 18 in North Manor, 12 in Ramsbottom and 12 in Tottington during the same period last year.
Overall crime was down 3.4 per cent according to the Greater Manchester Police figures, with theft of motor vehicles and criminal damage to homes the only categories of crime to show a rise.
Motor vehicle thefts were up from three to seven in Tottington and from six to eight in Ramsbottom.
