A chip pan caught fire when a man fell asleep. Fire fighters were called to the first floor flat in Heyside Way, Bury, at around 7pm last night.
They found the 21-year-old night shift worker had put the chip pan on and then fell asleep. He was woken by a neighbour who smelled the smoke.
Fire crews put out the blaze, which damaged the cooker and caused smoke damage to the rest of the flat.
