POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a young woman and her sister were racially abused.
Officers are investigating the racial abuse of a young Asian woman and her younger sister at a till in the Asda in Spring Street, Bury.
It occurred at around 2.30pm on Monday.
Police wish to speak to a white man, aged around 50 years old, of heavy build and with a bald head.
He was in a mobility scooter and was carrying a crutch.
He is wanted for interview about the ematter and inquiries are ongoing.
DCI Charlotte Caden said:"This was a particularly nasty racist verbal attack on a young woman, who was apologising for her card not working at the self-service till.
"The outrageous comments made by the man behind her in the queue and his aggressive behaviour, were totally inappropriate and caused real upset. I am most concerned that the victim’s 6yr old sister heard the comments too.
"We are hoping that another customer who was in the queue at the same time, may get in touch to help us with the investigation.
"If you have been a victim of hate crime – you can ring 101 or report on line via True Vision at Report-it.org."
