ONE of the most familiar frontline faces of the Radcliffe Times has retired.
For 33 years, Brenda Goddard was based at the Radcliffe Times. She worked initially as a receptionist at the paper's offices in Church Street when the premises also served as a stationery shop.
When the building closed, Brenda transferred to a separate Radcliffe Times shop in Blackburn Street and dealt with advertising and stationery for 16 years.
For the past three years, the 60-year-old has been a member of the front office team of our sister paper, the Bury Times, in Market Street.
Married with a son and daughter and two granddaughters, Brenda was the guest at a presentation buffet with colleagues last Thursday at which she received a number of gifts.
The following evening, she and close colleagues, together with ex-employees, enjoyed a night out.
Brenda, who lives in Elton, Bury, said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my years with the company, otherwise I wouldn't have stayed for so long.
"I will miss my fellow staff and the customers, some of whom have become friends over the years. Now that I'm retired, I just plan to relax and enjoy myself."
