SO Bury councillors have voted for extra allowances - no surprises there then.
Labour leader Wayne Campbell justifies this by saying he hopes this will encourage more people to stand for council.
I stood for council in Radcliffe North last May, not for financial gain, but to serve the people of Radcliffe. Perhaps Mr Campbell and his comrades could donate their rises to a local charity and thus restore some credibility and confidence in local government.
