LINGUIST and historian Sarah Mason is celebrating getting into one of the world’s most prestigious universities having received an incredible set of A-level results.
Sarah, aged 18, from Bolton, who goes to Holy Cross College in Bury, attained four A*s and will read history and French at the University of Oxford.
She said she originally wanted to solely study history, but decided to study a language as well to increase her career prospects.
Sarah, whose grandma lives in the south of France, near Nice, said: “In the current climate I thought it would hopefully just give me more options.
“Oxford has always had the reputation of being one of the best universities in the country, and its languages department is considered the best in Europe.
“I thought I would try but I never thought I would get in, so it’s all a bit surreal, but I’m so pleased.
“It is a big feeling of release. It's great to have the exams over with and I'm really looking forward to uni now.”
