TWO pubs have resubmitted planning applications for smoking shelters following the rejection of their initial proposals.
The pubs are the Grey Mare Inn, Bolton Road, Ramsbottom, and the Dungeon Hotel, Turton Road, Tottington. Both are owned by Thwaites.
Bury Council turned down the company's original proposal for the Grey Mare on the grounds that the shelter would be out of keeping with Ramsbottom Conservation Area. The company now proposes using slate rather than synthetic roofing.
The Dungeon application was originally refused after neighbours raised concerns about noise. The proposal has now been scaled down, with Thwaites wanting to install retractable canopies instead of building a fixed smoking shelter.
