A RADCLIFFE student has overcome the odds to receive a prestigious education award.
Seventeen-year-old Ngoc Thi Pham is studying photography and fashion at Bury College, but has had to cope with language difficulties.
Her first language is Vietnamese and she has worked to improve her English while studying.
She has also benefited from an Aimhigher summer school held last year and plans to be involved with future events held by the organisation in Bury.
Ngoc's hard work has been recognised by Aimhigher Greater Manchester, who presented her with the 16-19 Learner Award in a ceremony held at Manchester Metropolitan University.
She was among more than 50 students of all ages who have overcome significant barriers to improve their education.
Louise Higham, from Aimhigher Greater Manchester, said: "The annual awards are a celebration of the success of the Aimhigher programme in inspiring young people to believe in themselves and in the benefits of higher education. Many of the winners have overcome personal obstacles to keep hold of their aspirations to go on to higher education."
