RESIDENTS and visitors to Radcliffe can relax in the knowledge that they are in safe hands with the St John Ambulance.

For the Radcliffe Combined Division has handed out a haul of awards to its members at their annual presentation evening.

The adult members all have to pass the ECS re-exam for first aid and a defibrulation test each year in order to stay with the group and certificates were given to those who were successful.

Four cups were also handed out to the adults. The first aid cup and care competition were won by Rebecca Marshall, while Elaine Bailey was recognised for attending the most meetings during the year and Gillian Taylor was given a cup for spending the most hours on duty.

A special award was given to Tony Blomley, cadet superintendent, who was also given the Midas certificate to allow him to drive an ambulance.

There was also success among the younger members of the division, with eight-year-old badger Sian Loftus receiving the best badger award.
