SHOULD the poorest parts of the borough get the lion's share of resources, or should all parts share?

That is the question that town planners are asking residents as they shape the future of the borough.

The council needs the community's view on three options for a "core strategy", which is at the heart of a new style of planning policy known as the Local Development Framework.

The options are:

To focus growth on regeneration areas, ie concentrate economic and housing development in the most deprived areas.

To spread a balanced distribution of growth throughout the borough.

To concentrate growth in the south with restraint in the north. This would focus development in accessible areas such as town centres and the southern part of the borough.

Copies of the report are available on the council's website, www.bury.gov.uk, and at public buildings.

Comments can be made until August 13.

Also, planners are holding a "stakeholder meeting" at Bury Town Hall on July 24. Anyone can attend. For details, contact (0161) 253 5283.
