FIREFIGHTERS spent two hours at a Radcliffe mill tackling a blaze in the roof.
The incident happened at 4.45pm on Wednesday, an hour after contractors working on the ground floor roof at Phoenix Paper Supplies at the Pioneer Mill in Milltown Street had left the premises.
An employee smelled smoke and it was discovered a section of the roof was alight. Fire crews from Bury and Farnworth were called out to extinguish the blaze which damaged a 30 square metre section.
The fire triggered a sprinkler system which prevented the blaze from spreading to the inside of the building.
