RAMSBOTTOM band Plus Special Guests showed audiences at Tottington's Music in the Park that they are worthy of more than just the warm-up slots suggested by their moniker.

The band comprising Paul Whelan on vocals, Lewis Kirkham on guitar and keyboards, Andrew Galpin on Bass and Guitar and Robert Stringer on drums, delighted crowds with mix of covers and original material at Tottington's annual music festival.

Other bands rocking the Whitehead Gardens on Sunday were Tottington Public Band, Leeds-based steel band South Steel, soul group Well Said, Huddersfield reggae combo Dancing Fly, and the Goodshaw Band.

Stockport's Atlanta Roots blues band brought the event to a close.

Organisers had been worried about the condition of the site after finding the ground flooded earlier in the week but staff from Bury Council created temporary drains to prevent the event sliding into the muddy tradition of larger music festivals such as Glastonbury.

Organiser Geoff Leach said: "Incredibly it only rained for a few moments during the performances.

"There were even more people than last year - perhaps about 2,000.

"It was tremendous to see so many people from the village and the surrounding areas coming together to enjoy the music and have a brilliant day out.

"Plus Special Guests were especially brilliant, full of enthusiasm and rock n' roll energy. All the more experienced bands were full of praise for them."
