TOTTINGTON and Bury West Inner Wheel's new president is looking forward to supporting charities that cared for her husband in the last months of his life. Tina Brown has received the ceremonial chain of office from outgoing president Mary Raines. In memory of her husband, she has chosen Christie Hospital and Bury Hospice as the two charities the Inner Wheel club will support during her year in office. Peter Brown died from cancer three years ago. Mrs Brown said: "I had no idea before Peter was diagnosed with cancer of what incredible work these charities do. You never think you will have to go to Christie's but if you do you find out how dedicated their people are, right up until the end."
This will be Mrs Brown's third time in office as president of Tottington and Bury West Inner Wheel.
The first fundraising event she has organised is a mock auction at Walshaw Sports Club, in Sycamore Road, on September 14.
