A MAN had to be rescued from his car after a hit and run in Bury this afternoon.
Two men were seen running away from the scene of the crash, said watch manager Stephen Wilcock.
The collision, between a Ford Mondeo and a Ford Fiesta happened in Manchester Road, near the junction with Knowsley Street.
Mr Wilcock, said: "Two lads were seen running away and left one guy trapped inside."
The firefighters were on their way back from another incident in the Redvales area when they spotted the crash.
The crew called paramedic who determined the roof of the car did not need to be cut off.
A stretcher was used to extricate the man who was trapped, his injuries are not believed to be serious.
Firefighters arrived at the incident at about 1.45pm and were in attendance for around an hour.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers were looking into the incident and asked anyone with any information to come forwards.
He said anyone with dash cam footage showing the blue Mondeo with registration number NJ52 WZE, is asked to call the force on 101 quoting 1215 of July 8.
The men who fled the scene are believed to be two Asian males, and anyone who may have CCTV of them as they ran in the direction of Manchester Road Park, is asked to check it and call police.
Additionally, those who witnessed the incident are asked to get in touch.
