POSTAL workers in Bury and throughout the UK will tonight stage a fresh 24-hour strike in a row over pay and jobs, crippling mail deliveries for the second time in a fortnight.

The Communication Workers Union said up to 130,000 of its members wouldwalk out at 7pm.

The union has rejected a 2.5 per cent pay offer and warned that the Royal Mail's modernisation plans would lead to the loss of 40,000 jobs.

Watchdog Postwatch says the vast majority of post offices and sub post offices would not be affected.
