A RADCLIFFE schoolgirl has raised £500 for Bury Hospice.

Faye Madeley-Ball, aged 11, who attends Cams Lane Primary School, grew her hair for over two years before chopping 12 inches off.

The fundraiser was in honour of her 32-year-old friend Ashlee Disley who died from cancer in Bury Hospice in June 2015.

After donating all of the money raised, Faye then gave the hair to Little Princess Wigs. The charity provides real hair wigs to boys and girls who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Faye’s mother, Louise, whose husband has a scaffolding business with Ashlee’s husband, said the whole family were proud.

“It hasn’t been an easy time for everyone so for her to do something like this at her age is amazing.

“Faye wanted to do something in Ashlee’s memory – she has spent two years growing her hair.”

She added that Faye was so pleased to raise as much as she did with several school friends and family sponsoring her.

Bury Hospice fundraising manager Vicky Butcher said she was delighted with the donation.

She said: “We are all so proud of Faye and we all want to say a huge thank you to her.”
