Our 2006/2007 season ends July 8 with a field trip to St Bees Head. The indoor meetings have covered birds, insects, plants and nearby nature reserves.
Dr Brian Barnes gave the most unusual talk about Horace the Elk. This animal died from injuries inflicted by human hunters 11,500 years ago near Poulton-le-Fylde.
Sadly the group has lost two friends this year, Peter Hill, who frequently featured in our programmes, died last winter. In April Molly Stark, a keen and knowledgeable member of the group also died.
The trip to St Bees Head will be our longest journey, and Redisher Wood back in January was our nearest to home field trip.
If you would like a copy of our next season's programme, please contact our chairman, Mr. Geoff Higginbottom on 0161 720 6100.
