The sound of music came to Canon Lewis Hall, Greenmount, when Mr Edward Lawton was the guest speaker at the latest meeting of Greenmount Evening WI.
Mr Lawton began his musical career as an oboeist while serving in the Army and he continued in civilian life as a member of various musical organisations around his home in South Lakeland.
We were treated to music for oboe and cor anglais by composers ranging from Bach to Rimsky-Korsakov. A very pleasant way to spend an evening with the WI!
Since our last meeting members have enjoyed the hospitality of Norden WI who hosted the Peel Group meeting, and the June Walk and Supper - Mrs Isabel Heaton somehow managed to ensure good weather for this!
Our next meeting is at Canon Lewis Hall at 7.45pm, July 19.
