WITH all the attention being drawn to the proposed compost site at Bradley Fold, other plans for Radcliffe tip seem to be going unnoticed.

Viridor Laing (the same company who submitted the Bradley Fold plans) have just held a public consultation at Radcliffe Boro's ground to show the proposals that they plan to submit which are intended to massively increase the size of Radcliffe tip.

The meeting was not advertised very well and it came to my notice that the leaflets advising local householders of the meeting were posted with junk mail which could easily be missed.

I believe this is a tactic which Viridor Laing use so that the numbers attending meetings is kept to a minimum. The proposed plans intend to increase the size of the Radcliffe tip area from one hectare to 1.3 hectares and will obviously increase the amount of traffic and the amount of waste being tipped.

This is unacceptable as the tip is in the middle of residential areas and the effect will no doubt reduce the value and saleability of properties in the area.

Taking into account the plans for Radcliffe Crematorium being declined due to access problems on Ainsworth Road surely the same problems will arise with these plans.

Cemetery Road and the junction with Ainsworth Road is far too small for the amount and size of vehicles that are expected. If residents wish to see the proposed plans they can be viewed at www.manchester-consultation.co.uk and objections can be left under the Cemetary Road link. In addition, there is an information line, 0845 094 5011.

The council once again are showing total disrespect for Radcliffe residents and to increase the site this much will cause nothing but chaos in the area and also potential noise, smell and congestion.

In fact there are two primary schools close to the proposed site and I dread to think about the smell which a tip of this size could cause, especially in the summer.
