A MOTOR home was destroyed after it burst into flames on the M66.
Firefighters from Bury fire station were called to the northbound carriageway of the motorway at about 1pm on Sunday.
The fire service said the blaze started because of a fault in the engine, and it then spread before totally destroying the motor home.
The couple inside the self-contained motor home managed to pull over and get out before the fire took hold, and were unhurt.
The blaze, which occurred past junction one for Ramsbottom, caused severe delays with traffic going towards Haslingden and Rawtenstall at a complete standstill.
