A ONE-ARMED shopkeeper was robbed in the street while carrying his young son.
Mohammed Munir, who runs Brandram Road Mini market in Prestwich, was with 20-month-old Naveed when he was attacked.
The 52-year-old was on his way to the deposit £3,000 into the HSBC Cheetham Hill's branch in Cheetham Hill Road at 12.30pm on Tuesday November 18 when a masked man ran up to him and demanded he hand over a bag containing cash.
A scuffle broke out and Mr Munir almost dropped Naveed before the thug grabbed the bag and ran off.
Mr Munir gave chase, but halted his pursuit when he noticed Naveed running towards the road.
The offender ran off along Waterloo Road with two other men, believed to be his accomplices.
Mr Munir lost his arm in an industrial accident when he was a teenager and he has managed the shop in Brandram Road for 26 years.
The father-of-six said: "It was an awful thing to go through - not because it was me, but because my little boy was with me.
"I am just glad he wasn't injured. I would have never forgiven myself.
"But even now he has nightmares and cries out for me in his sleep.
"Naveed calls for me and says he is scared of the robber. It is horrible for him.
"Who would target a disabled man with his small son in broad daylight? It is sickening."
Mr Munir's wife Vieda added: "I don't know how you could sink much lower and they deserve to be caught.
"He was a disabled man on his own with his child and they decided that was the best moment for them to strike - all for a bit of cash.
"Naveed's been really affected by the whole ordeal and keeps asking why it happened and if his daddy is okay."
Mr Munir thanked his customers for coming into the shop to wish him well and for posting dozens of messages of support on Facebook.
Police are investigating the robbery and revealed descriptions of three men they want to speak to.
The attacker was Asian, aged in his 20s and about 5ft 6in. He was wearing a black hooded top and a black balaclava.
The two men who ran off with him were described as Asian and also wearing black balaclavas.
Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting log number 994.
