WITH a dab of enthusiasm and some broad strokes of talent, the Start in Bury exhibition officially began this month.
Mayor of Bury Sharon Briggs offic-ially opened the display at the Bury Art Museum, with all pieces done by Start members who are recovering from mental health issues.
The group, which meets at Manchester Road Community Cen-tre, assists people to express their creativity through art and provides them with a studio.
Lead artist Jack Wright and his assistant Lisa Broad-hurst said the opening of the annual event was well attended by members of the group as well as their friends and family.
“The mayor was extremely impressed with the work of our group,” they said.
“As a consequence they would like to come and see the group at Manchester Road Community centre where we are based.
“Members of Start in Bury are always thrill-ed to display their work amongst that of other great artists.”
The artists have not only provided the work but also help with all aspects of the way that the project is run.
The group already has a steady intake of members but say they always welcome new-comers on referral from the NHS or social services.
The exhibition runs until November 16.
