THE future of Fairfield Hospital's maternity and children's services is set to change dramatically within the next five years. Here are the services that will stay - and those to be axed.

l Community Children's Nursing Teams providing care closer to home so children can spend less time in hospital.
l Sub specialities for children. For example: asthma, diabetes and epilepsy.
l Out patients.
l Day case surgery.
l Accident & Emergency (A&E) services.
l Child-friendly Observation and Assessment units located next to A&E staffed by clinicians with paediatric skills.
l Child and adolescent mental health services.
l Antenatal and postnatal care.
l Gynaecology outpatients and inpatient surgery.
TO GO.
l Delivery of baby in hospital.
l Neonatal intensive care.
l Surgery on young children.
l Major gynaecology inpatient surgery.
