SOLICITORS are hoping residents will show “willing” and help good causes in the process.
Throughout November, five Bury solicitors have pledged to draw up wills for free if the client agrees to make a donation to Will Aid. This supports nine charities, which are: Actionaid, Age UK, The British Red Cross, Christian Aid, the NSPCC, Save The Children, Sightsavers, The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund and Trocaire.
Will Aid campaigner Shirley Marsland said: “Will Aid offers readers a unique opportunity to get an affordable will with one of our friendly and approachable solicitors.
“They are giving their time without any payment to help you look after your loved ones and to support some very worthwhile causes.
She added: “Over the past 25 years, Will Aid has helped 250,000 people to protect their loved ones with a proper will and the £13.6 million raised in donations as a result has improved beyond measure the lives of thousands of people in the UK and around the world.”
Participating solicitors include: Ben Tatters at GHW Solicitors, in Bolton Street, Ramsbottom; Chris Hopkins at Butcher and Barlow in Bank Street, Bury; Ian Guant at Crompton Halliwell in St Mary’s Place, Bury, and Richard Ashton at Butcher and Barlow in Bury New Road, Prestwich. Patricia Prescott of Latimer Lee, with offices in Square Street Ramsbottom, and in Bury New Road, Prestwich, is taking part. See willaid.org.uk
