A 60-year-old man was robbed as he walked through Radcliffe.
The man was walking along Church Street West at about 8.50pm on Sunday when he was approached by a man in his late teens.
The yob at first walked past the man, then stopped before shouting something to him.
He then grabbed him round the neck and ripped off the gold chain he was wearing.
The man fell to the ground and hit his head, causing minor injuries, before the mugger ran off towards Festival Gardens.
He was black, about 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall, slim to athletic build, wore dark clothes and a hooded top that covered his head.
PC Mark Robertson said: “When the offender grabbed the man round the neck, he put up a fight and tried to push him away.
"However, the force caused the man to fall and hit his head. Fortunately he only received minor cuts and grazes.
“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or saw a man fitting the description of the offender, running towards Festival Gardens holding a gold chain, to contact police.”
