A MAN who smashed a bottle in another man's face and tried to stab him with the broken end is being hunted by police.
Detectives have been trying to find 29-year-old Adam Fletcher, since the attack in Whitefield on September 28, but he has disappeared.
Police are now hoping the public can help, and have released a picture of him.
The attack happened at about 11.30am, when a man banged at the door of the house in Ridge Crescent.
After there was no answer, he broke in and went upstairs, where a couple were in the bedroom.
He smashed a glass bottle against the man's face and started to stab him in the arm with the broken bottle.
The 27-year-old ran for cover, but a short time later went back to try to help the woman, who was being punched by the attacker, who later left the house.
Police said Fletcher has links to Salford.
Det Sgt Garry Hayhurst said: "Fletcher knows he is being sought by the police and is therefore deliberately trying to avoid us.
"I would ask that anyone who has seen him calls us as soon as possible. We need to speak to him in connection with this terrifying and violent attack."
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 8568202 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
