A TAKEAWAY driver has escaped unhurt after being held at gunpoint in Bury.

The 47-year-old man, who police have not named, was delivering a Chinese food order to a house in Cameron Street when a masked man approached him on the street and pointed a shotgun at him.

He demanded cash and the victim handed over a small black bag with change in.

A second man wearing dark clothing appeared, grabbed the food from his hand, and ran off towards Whitehead Park.

The masked man then ordered the victim to hand over more items, so he gave him his wallet, but he refused to hand over his car keys and the robber fled towards Whitehead Park.

He was wearing a dark grey jacket, was about 5ft 11in tall and was wearing a balaclava.

It happened at 11.05pm on Monday, December 17.

Det Con Lindsey Worrall, of Bury CID, said: “The victim was lured to a quiet street by the two men so they could steal his takings, personal belongings and food.

“He believes they were armed with a shotgun so this is an extremely serious offence and I want anyone with information to contact me.

“Did you see or hear someone running off, did two men matching the description arrive at a house you were at with a food order that night or have you heard someone talk about this?

“If so, please get in touch.”
