Harold Edward SMITH

SMITH Harold Edward Passed away peacefully in hospital on 10th March 2023, aged 93 years. Beloved husband to Jean, loving father to Lawrie and Karen, treasured grandfather and great-grandfather. Harold will be very sadly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday 6th April 2023 at Bury Parish Church at 10:30am and then East Lancashire Crematorium at 11:30am. Family flowers only. Harold will be dearly missed throughout West Cork. When we were kids back in the 80s and 90s, the McCarthys always looked forward to Harold and Jean visiting, as they always arrived with a warm smile and a bag of sweets!
As adults, my sisters Eimear, Maeve and Claire, and my brother Conor got even more fun out of their visits, as lunch frequently extended into lazy summer evenings which often entailed Harold and Jean breaking into song, with a twinkle in the eye.
We had the great good fortune of knowing Harold & Jean through their long and enduring friendship with our parents. Harold was always held in very fond regard and will be missed and celebrated by us.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jean and the Smith family.
