BENNY Phillips has promised his overhaul of the Stainton Park squad is not finished yet despite Tuesday night’s sensational 10-3 victory at Harrogate Railway Athletic.
New loan signing Dennis Sherriff inspired the stunning performance against fellow Evo-Stik League Division One North strugglers which came on the back of a 4-0 defeat at Clitheroe on Saturday.
The former Rochdale striker arrived from Stalybridge Celtic this week, hitting a hat-trick on debut, and was joined by experienced defender Stephen Rose.
A total of six players have been shown the door to make way for fresh blood – with Craig Roberts, Paul Casey, Matt Fearon, Nick Meace, Dave Tickle and Joe Coombes all leaving the club.
And Phillips hopes to bring in a couple more players in the near future, including a replacement for centre-back Andy Parry, who has joined Southport after a spell on trial from Accrington Stanley.
“We’re pleased with what we have brought in but I still think we need one or two,” he said.
“Andy has gone to Southport, and we always knew what the situation was with him when he came in.
“I think we’ve been lucky to have him, and it has been a pleasure to work with him.
“It means we’re on the lookout for another centre-half now, and maybe a left-back, but it’s all ongoing.”
Once again, floodlight problems at Stainton Park mean this Saturday’s home game with Prescot Cables has been brought forward to a 1.30pm kick-off.
Boro’s reward for beating Conference high-flyers Fleetwood Town in the Lancs Co-op Trophy last week is a quarter-final tie at home to Barrow.
The tie will be played the week starting December 5.
