RYAN Lowe will take charge of Bury for Sunday’s FA Cup first-round tie at National League side Woking following the sacking of Lee Clark.
Shakers chairman Stewart Day confirmed the appointment on Tuesday, but would not reveal whether the 39-year-old striker would be considered for the permanent position.
Day told BBC Radio Manchester: “We need to try to get the lads being positive. We are going to put Ryan in charge as a caretaker manager in the short term and see where that takes us while we assess things at the club.”
Lowe, aged 39, returned for his third spell at the club in January, joining from Crewe as a player/coach.
The popular forward has previously won two promotions from League Two with Bury – in 2014/15 and 2010/11 – and has made no secret of his desire to one day manage the Gigg Lane outfit.
Bury go into this weekend’s cup tie on the back of four defeats, and are second-bottom in League One having lost 10 of 16 league games this season.
