HEAVY snowfall overnight brought traffic in the borough to a standstill this morning.

Many local schools were closed as the winter conditions set in. Drivers were stuck in nose to tail traffic as they attempted to get to work.

Communters were taking up to four hours on a journey which would normally take little over 15 minutes.

Drivers faced long delays getting in and out of Bury as main routes were gridlocked after several inches of snow fell during night.
