SUPERJOSH founder Dawn Fidler brings you her latest blog

On Saturday, I took to the skies again to support my good friend actress Tisha Merry and to raise money for my boy's amazing charity.

I never need a reason to raise money for SuperJosh, but sometimes having something to focus on makes a huge difference.

This time my focus was 10-year-old Josh, who has a brain tumour, which he and his family have struggled to come to terms with. Josh specifically has battled severe anxiety and depression as a result of his diagnosis, which is one of the hardest things for his family to deal with.

We’ve helped where we could, but one of the biggest positives in Josh’s life has been the thought of going on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Disneyworld, Florida.

This had been all arranged, and taken care of, and has given him something amazing to focus on, and a purpose to move forward.

With just a month’s notice, the organisers announced they were pulling out, and refused to grant any help, leaving the family shell shocked and terrified of the impact this would have on their Josh.

Our team pulled out all the stops, along with friend Alison Rothwell, and organised an amazing package.

Park tickets to Disneyworld and Universal Studios have been donated. As a charity SuperJosh is funding a swimming with dolphins experience at Discovery Cove, which is one of Josh’s big dreams.

The holiday will go ahead, which is wonderful, and now thanks to our amazing supporters who raised over £1,000 in less than 24 hours we are now able to cover the family’s travel insurance, the special memory maker package and spending money for the trip, all of which had been originally promised to them.

Personally, I am overwhelmed by everyone's generosity, and the constant desire to help those who need it most.

On September 17, a team of supporters will be taking to the streets for the Bury 10K.

If you would like to get involved, please get in touch with us via our Facebook page as we are happy to take on any final runners and marshalls for the day.

I know the kids have only just gone back to school, so it still seems early, but plans are underway for our 2018 calendar.

We have 10 slots left for business to sponsor, it's £100 per month, and includes your logo on the calendar along with social media posts. Please get in touch if you are interested hello@joshwilson.org.uk.

As part of our ongoing support this week we've been enjoying visiting, riding and even painting our horsey rescue friends in glitter!

The bond these beautiful horses have with children is just magic, they are so gentle and offer a great therapy session, unconditional love and lots of laughter.

Thank you to Wendy and everyone involved who enables us to provide these special experiences.
